Hamburg becomes the hotspot of the German financial sector from November 4-9, 2019 when the 2019 Fintech Week kickstarts under the theme “One Week. One City. The Best about the Future of Finance” at Finhaven in HafenCity. The week is Germany’s largest fintech event with around 30 different formats ranging from meet-ups to conferences hosted by banks, start-ups, law firms and consultancies. Almost 1,500 delegates from banks, insurance companies, fintech and insurtech companies are expected. The agenda features events in the English-language including the one-day FinForward conference to be held under the theme ”Don’t be afraid of German Angst” on November 7, 2019.

The FinForward Conference will focus on German concerns and build a bridge for international fintechs. John Heaven, Programme Manager of FinForward, noted: “The scepticism of consumers, the strict regulation, the concern about digital change are great unknowns when companies enter the German market.” The infamous “German Angst” is part of a deep dive into the German market. “But ‘FinForward’ should help allay fears and encourage people using exciting examples from numerous countries. Three parallel tracks will be held at the Holiday Inn Hamburg-HafenCity namely, German Angst vs. Fear of Missing Out (FOMO), Internationalisation and Solution Space, which will give insight into progressive Scandinavian markets.

The Symbioticon (04.11.-6.11) technology festival with conferences, hackathons and networking, organized by the Sparkassen Innovation Hub is among the highlights. Euroforum’s Data Driven Banking (04.11.-05.11.) conference centres on how Big Data becomes Smart Data. Bankpower’s event Best of Both Worlds (08.11.) will bring together the established financial sector and innovative financial start-ups. The agenda also features the Comdirect Finanzbarcamp on November 9, 2019, focusing on all topics related to the financial sector. Hamburg’s Sutor Bank will host a panel on Blockchain, which is on everyone’s lips nowadays. Finhaven: Fintech Week Main Hub
Initiated by Fintech’s specialist media, Finletter, and the Betahaus Hamburg co-working space, Hamburg has hosted Fintech Week every year since 2016. Delegates at the event can co-work in Finhaven, the scene of most events, from November 4 to 8, 2019 free of charge. The FinForward conference is being organised by the team behind Fintech Week while external designers have inputted the other contents of Fintech Week.
