HAW to Intensify Co-Operation

Hamburg University of Applied Sciences to enter a strategic partnerschaft with the California State University in Long Beach (CSULB), U.S.A.

Since 1998, HAW Hamburg has been co-operating with the California State University in Long Beach (CSULB), USA. Not only the students of both universities use the partnership to study one semester at the partner university. Also, teachers increasingly participate in the exchange. Thus, HAW Hamburg decided to build a strategic partnership with the CSULB by 2020. The claim: “HAW goes USA”. In June, the first three workshops thus enriched the curriculum.

Three Workshops with U.S. Partners

In the department “Media Technology” Prof. Wolfgang Willaschek teamed up with Tom Blomquist and Reed Moran to run the film workshop “Narrative Screenwriting & Directing for Film and Television” . The two California professors and writers were able to convey real Hollywood expertise to the student.
At the International Business Workshop entitled “FDI, FTA and Market Concentration – A cross-country comparative study in selected industrial sectors” 48 students from CSULB and HAW Hamburg dealt with a current economic topic for one week. “What can the German and the American health care system learn from each other? “ was the question tackled by a 14-day long summer school of the Department of Health Sciences of the HAW Hamburg in co-operation with the Department of Healthcare Management from California State University Long Beach.
