Fintech Week higlights digitalisation of finance

Innovative financial start-ups and established financial world expected at event in Hamburg

Fintech Week 2018 gets underway in Hamburg from October 15, 2018 under the motto “One week. One city. The best about the future of finance” with emphasis on fintech issues and the digitalisation of finance. A colourful mix of events – from network breakfasts to conferences to bar camps – offers founders, developers, fintech start-ups, innovation managers, communication professionals and boards of directors in banks a forum for exchange and potential co-operation. The first FinForward conference will also be held on October 18 and will shine the spotlight on digital topics of the future. The new Fintech Agency Hamburg will also be presented.

Machine Learning, tech giants and data

The one-day FinForward Conference will take place at betahaus Hamburg and is aimed at innovation managers in banks and decision-makers in fintechs across companies and industries. Whether the potential of self-learning algorithms or the danger posed by the tech giants Google, Amazon & Co. – established players, financial start-ups and cross-industry speakers will have their say in eight thematic blocks. They include for instance, Miriam Wohlfarth, a business guide and founder of RatePay, which is considered one of the most successful German fintechs, according to Gründerszene. Other speakers include Hartmut Giesen, Business Development Manager with Hamburg’s Sutor Bank. The Hamburg FemFinTech community, Fintech Ladies, will also host the Fintech Stories event. Then, five founders will outline their careers in the industry so far.

Launch of Fintech Agency Hamburg

Dr. Reiner Brüggestrat, Deputy Chairman of the Finanzplatz Hamburg e.V. and Chairman of the Board of the Hamburger Volksbank, and Dr. Rolf Strittmatter, Chairman of the Management Board of Hamburg Marketing GmbH, will present Plans for a Settlement Agency, to help international fintech companies enter the German market and especially that in Hamburg. The Fintech Agency Hamburg will be launched on October 16, 2018 at betahaus Hamburg. Fintech Week is organized by the industry medium finletter and the co-working space betahaus Hamburg. The FinForward conference is organised by the Fintech Week Team, while the remainder of the events during Fintech Week have been designed by external players.
