“Reeperbahn Hamburgers” has been held during Austin’s SXSW by the city of Hamburg and the Reeperbahn Festival for many years now. The Interactive Editon of Reepeerbahn was held on Saturday followed by the Digital Media Women Day on Sunday.
Burgers, beer and business
On both days (from 4 pm to 7 pm), the grounds near the burger stand were full of people who wanted to end their busy conference there. Saturday was summery and around 350 creative people, start-up founders, journalists and several Hamburg natives came together for the Interactive Edition to network over beer and burgers and to discuss subjects of the sessions and panels. Cloudier weather on Sunday during Digital Media Women Day saw people come together for burgers, beer and Prosecco and a demanding programme of keynotes and discussions focusing on the challenges facing women in technology and media. The HamburgTexConnect had been held earlier that day in the Austin Convention Center in the southern part of the grounds. There, select Hamburg-based founders had met to speed date 20 participants from the United States. The proven matchmaking format is now in its fifth year.
12 events with participants from Hamburg
Hamburg is, of course, inputting content at SXSW and not celebrating all the time. A total of 12 events in SXSW’s official programme are being held in the “German Haus”: and involve lots of people from Hamburg. Sessions entitled “Experiencing AI”, “How Product Thinking Shapes our Future”; “Recruit me, Robot!” reflect the broad spectrum of topics there. On Monday (March 12), Hamburg held the Music & Interactive Night organised with counterparts in Berlin and on March 15, plenty of Reeperbahn Hamburgers will come together to rock to music over a barbecue and grill.
