The EU-funded project Clever Cities has been underway for six weeks now led by Hamburg and the suburb of Harburg in co-operation with 33 other cities and institutions across Europe, South America and China. As part of the Clever Cities framework, nature-based methods for upgrading and regenerating socially disadvantaged districts are being developed and tested and involving residents as well. Horizon 2020 is an EU research and innovation programme for the period 2018-2020 in the fields of transport and energy.
Special urban planning
An interdisciplinary team at HafenCity University is focusing on urban planning, landscape architecture and participation processes. Model cities of the project include Hamburg, London and Milan. There, nature-based solutions and methods of urban planning contribute to the upgrading and regeneration of disadvantaged districts.
