Successful firms in the first round of the Mobil.Pro.Fit.® nationwide model project focusing on measures for sustainable, efficient and climate-friendly transport solutions were honoured Wednesday by Jens Kerstan, Senator for the Environment, Wednesday (September 7th). The honours were presented at the start of the Action Week for Clean Air and Modern Transport/Aktionswoche für saubere Luft und moderne Mobilität on the site of copper-producer Aurubis. Participants in the project included Hamburger Wohnen and Hansa Funktaxi as well as GMH Gebäudemanagement Hamburg GmbH / Schulbau Hamburg and the University Hospital Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE),
70 companies involved
In 2014, Hamburg applied to take part in the project launched by Bundesdeutschen Arbeitskreis für Umweltbewusstes Management (B.A.U.M.) as a model region. Apart from Hamburg, B.A.U.M. also launched the project with partners in the Ruhr district, in Greater Berlin and in the urban district of Aachen.
A total of 70 firms took part in the project and have highlighted several, sustainable transport means for commuters and for business people. Six firms and institutes took part in the first round of the project that began in Hamburg in July 2015.
Car sharing, electric mobility and public transport
The participants have developed several measures such as car sharing offers to heighten flexibility in a company’s vehicle fleet. Electric transport is already being used in some firms. And switching to bicycles and public transport is an alternative for many employees as it eases heavy traffic on roads and vehicles in parking spaces. The second round of the project got underway in March 2016.
