Latest TEDxHamburg to be held under "Rock the Boat" theme

Keynote speakers from technology, entertainment and design mull forward-looking ideas

The upcoming TEDxHamburg on June 25, 2017 to be held in Hamburg’s Laeiszhalle under the theme “Rock the Boat” focuses on the challenges of a constantly changing society. Keynote speakers will emphasise the importance of courage, passion to achieve positive change in the world and disrupt the status quo by rocking the boat.

Media experts and social entrepreneurs among speakers

The speakers include leading movers and shakers from science, design and architecture among many other sectors. Julia Köberlein, for instance, is the co-founder of the Munich-based Kontextlab start-up that develops storytelling software and publishes “Der Kontext” magazine to make complex issues such as populism, war in Syria or the energy transition understandable to readers.

Social entrepreneur Temi Mwale, 21, witnessed inequality and injustice growing up in London and decided to study law and launch the 4Front project to help youths from impoverished regions. Another speaker Bernd Roggendorf and his team at EIDU based in Berlin are establishing a learning platform to let poor children in an African slum teach themselves skills such as reading, writing and maths.

Platform for innovative ideas

The idea for the Technology, Entertainment und Design (TED) conference originated in the United States under the theme “Ideas Worth Spreading”. TED events are held throughout North America, Europe and Asia and offer live streaming of the talks on research and practice of science and culture.
