New beyourpilot platform launches for knowledge creators

Platform to boost framework conditions for Hamburg's knowledge-based start-ups

A new digital communication and interaction platform “beyourpilot – Startup Port Hamburg” was launched Thursday (April 11, 2019) by the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Transport and Innovation, Hamburg’s largest universities and DESY. The platform promotes knowledge-based start-ups, which are frequently set up in a university environment and by research institutions and become so-called knowledge founders.

Research and business think together

Speaking during the launching ceremony, Katharina Fegebank, Senator for Science, Research and Equality, said: “Our strength in Hamburg lies in the fact that we think science and business together.” Knowledge creators have special needs, which cannot always be covered by the multiple offers provided by Hamburg’s funding system for founders. This is where www.beyourpilot.de comes in. The platform focuses on the needs of knowledge-based founders, who play crucial roles in bringing an initial idea to fruition and setting up a successful company. The platform will bring science and industry together to develop solutions and applications for digitisation and globalisation.

Interactive working environment

The platform’s online and offline offers are designed to increase the number and quality of knowledge-intense start-ups in Hamburg and the metropolitan region. The platform also facilitates interactive searches for answers and partners to solve concrete problems. “The new platform offers an interactive working environment and will establish itself as a very important support system for start-ups in the environment of Hamburg’s universities and research institutions,” said Michael Westhagemann, President of the Authority for Economics, Transport and Innovation.
