Hamburg's creative scene staging special Christmas events

Unorthodox Xmas ideas - four unusal markets offering 3D Christmas decorations and regionally-produced food

Christmas markets in Hamburg are not limited to the traditional wooden huts offering traditonal mulled wine, delicacies and handcrafts. At least four other unusual events are taking place across Hamburg in the run-up to Christmas.

Hamburg Startups and Airbus Bizlab Weihnachts-Mixer

The private initiative Hamburg Startups and Airbus BizLab and start-ups such as Ankerkraut, inkluWas and Tastillery are hosting a Christmas party or Christmas market mixer in betahaus on December 8. Visitors will have an opportunity to get to know people in the scene. Food and non-food start-ups will be selling their goods there.

Frischepost celebrating in Speicherstadt

The start-up Frischepost is hosting a Christmas market at its premises in Speicherstadt. Visitors can buy regionally-produced products and see other highlights on December 10. Thomas Sampl, a professional chef, will give a cooking demonstration and Ulf Schönheim of Regionalwert AG will give a talk. Live music and handcrafts for children are also part of the event. Juliane Eichblatt und Eva Neugebauer, founders of Frischepost, are offering food produced in Hamburg in the online shop. The goods are delivered on electric bikes.

Fab Lab St. Pauli holding Xmas Special

The Fab Lab St. Pauli holding an Xmas special on December 11. The fabbing trend originated in the U.S. and has since spread to Germany. Visitors can print 3D objects such as stars or Christmas tree decorations with 3D printers and laser cutters. All this and more is available at Fab Lab and during regular workshops for beginners.

Happy Craftmas Christmas market in Mindspace

The co-working space provider Mindspace is holding a Happy Craftmas Christmas market on December 18 in Alten Klöpperhauses on Rödingsmarkt. The market for design, food and start-ups originated in Groningen in 2012. Mindspace, the pop-up store provider B-Lage Hamburg and the start-up Jimdo are bringing the event to Hamburg for the first time this year.
