Hamburg News: Successful First Year

Positive results and feedback after the first twelve months of Hamburg's official business platform. More than 2,000 articles written by editorial team

Hamburg’s official online business platform “Hamburg News” is celebrating its first anniversary! Launched on 1 July 2014, the bilingual news portal of the Hamburg economy today boast more than 2,000 articles researched and written by its editorial team, and more than 12,000 web clippings on the Port of Hamburg, Hamburg’s creative scene, exciting meetings, latest developments and economic trends.

Today, Hamburg News records almost 100,000 unique users and 250,000 page views. “Growth rates of up to 25 per cent a month to show us that we are on the right track with Hamburg News”, says Thorsten Kausch, managing director of Hamburg Marketing GmbH as publisher of Hamburg News.

Hamburg’s Economy on all Channels

On weekdays, Hamburg News reflects the diversity of the business location Hamburg by reporting both in English and German on current developments in the fields of renewable energy, trade and finance, healthcare and life science, port & logistics, aviation and media, IT and creative industries, and tourism. A dedicated editorial team researches and writes all contributions. In addition, news from other network is collected and curated by the network. The portal also links directly to partner sites and service providers of Hamburg’s economy. For motion picture reports, Hamburg News entered a partnership with the Northern German broadcaster NDR.

Platform for Industries and Clusters

The news will also be disseminated through social media channels such as Xing, Twitter and LinkedIn as well as a weekly HTML newsletter in both English and German. In addition, the Hamburg News feeds are integrated on partner websites, including the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce and HWF Hamburg Business Development Corporation. “Hamburg News is a new and useful info platform on the economy of the metropolitan region. The platform also promotes the concept of networking of industries, institutions and economic clusters by offering a platform for all”, said Dr Rolf Strittmatter, CEO of HWF.

Users of Hamburg News are particularly interested in “conferences and events”, a section to be significantly expanded in autumn. Also in the pipeline is the integration of a job portal.
