Hamburg-based start-up Leankoala secures six-figure seed capital

Three IT investors now backing firm - capital to go towards product development and growth

Stefanie and Nils Langner, founders of Leankola, have secured seed capital to the tune of six figures from IT investors BrainWeb, Pecunalta and AAK. Partners in business and in marriage, the couple specialize in testing and monitoring websites. “The quality management of websites is badly neglected,” said Stefanie Langner, who aims to change this with Leankola’s software. The company checks the availability of websites and their performance and for content-related elements. Leankoala ensures that logins and data protection pages work properly and avoid duplicated content. The fresh capital will go towards growing the company and developing software.

From marriage partners to business partners

The couple set up Software as a Service in 2016. Both had been involved in publishing and were aware of the problem of important content going missing during so-called “deployments”. The entrepreneurial duo now work for well-known customers including traditional publishing houses Gruner & Jahr and Bauer, as well as the Hamburg-based group of agencies, The Ministry Group. “Over the months ahead, we aim to expand in the area of e-commerce,” Stefanie added. Mouse clicks will be monitored from searches for articles up to payment.

Backing from InnoRampUp programme

Leankoala had earlier secured funding to the tune of EUR 150,000 via the InnoRampUp operated by Hamburg’s IFB investment and development bank. This financial support allowed the entrepreneurs to resign from their previous jobs and to focus fully on their business idea. The new capital will allow the team to expand to seven and to develop the software.
