Five Hamburg-based advertising agencies top BVDW ranking

Federal Association of the Digital Industry releases "Best of Digital"

Five of Germany’s 20 most successful creative agencies are based in Hamburg, according to the Kreativranking 2018 issued by the Federal Association of the Digital Industry (BVDW). The owner-managed advertising agency Jung von Matt topped the ranking followed by Serviceplan in second place, while Hamburg Grabarz & Partner came fourth and Kolle Rebbe ranked tenth. The Thjnk agency, which is also based in the Hanseatic city, ranked 15th. The ranking is based on awards from the creative industries received by the individual companies in 2018.

“Jung von Matt was this year’s clear winner and led the points scale by a large margin,” said Anke Herbener, Chairwoman of the Full-Service-Digitalagenturen specialist group at BVDW. The agency’s most successful project was The most German Supermarket for Edeka, according to BVDW. To draw attention to diversity, all products not originating from Germany were removed from the shelves of an Edeka supermarket in Hamburg for one day. The awards included in the evaluation are the 20 most important presented in 2018 including the ADC Award, the German Digital Award and the Red Dot Award. BVDW has compiled the ranking annually since 2014.
