Nearly 1,250 concerts and events during latest season

The 2019/2020 concert season at the Elbphilharmonie and Laeiszhalle features almost 1,250 events with operas, oratorios, chamber music and piano recitals to jazz, world music, pop and electro making for a unique diverse music programme.

Focus of new season

The concert series features performances by local orchestras and by some 40 international orchestras from Vienna, Berlin, Munich, London and Amsterdam. The spotlight will be on composers such as Georg Friedrich Händel, Iannis Xenakis and Mieczysław Weinberg. With four concerts, Mirga Gražinytė-Tyla, the music director of the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, is at the centre of the “Britain Calling” festival which focuses on English music spanning the last 100 years.

Beethoven Year 2020

The Beethoven Year is a highlight of the upcoming season. Performers such as Igor Levit and François-Xavier Roth will celebrate what would have been Beethonoven’s 250th birthday with concerts. Thomas Hengelbrock, for instance, will perform a reconstruction of the four-hour Academy Concert from 1808. Single ticket sales for most concerts will begin on June 20, 2019, while tickets for the 50 different subscription series can be purchased until May 17, 2020.
