Ministers of Health met in Hamburg

On 26 and 27 June 2014, Hamburg hosted the 87th Health Ministers Conference (GMK) on the banks of the Elbe river. Under the chairmanship of Hamburg's Minister of Health, Cornelia Storck, Germany's ministers of health of the country's 16 states discussed health issues with the German Federal Minister of Health, Hermann Gröhe.

“In future, demographic change will be a major challenge of healthcare system. Against this background, it was the central focus of this year’s conference on health and demography,” says the Hamburg Minister of Health, Cornelia Prüfer-Storck. “We also discussed, among other things, the development of the cross-sectoral and selective care services, the planned prevention law, uniform requirements for German language skills in health care professions, patient safety issues, and the situation of midwives.”
