Spanish delegation visits Hamburg on invitation of foodactive

High-ranking visit in Harburg's inland port: Accompanied by the President of the Spanish Galicia Autonomous Region, Alberto Núñez Feijoo, the Spanish Consul General in Hamburg, Pedro Martínez-Avial, His Excellency Pablo García-Berdoy Cerezo, Ambassador of Spain, visited the nutrition initiative foodactive with their business delegation.

Jochen Winand, CEO of Süderelbe AG, and Dr. Annika B. Schröder, managing director of foodactive e.V., welcome the high-ranking delegation from Spain.

“We are very interested in selling food from Galicia here in Northern Germany”, said the Prime Minister,“and highly appreciate your warm welcome. Next to the region’s Prime Minister, the delegation included Minister of Economy of Galicia, a representative of the Regional Economic Development Corporation, and the President of the Galician meat and food cluster.

Dr. Annika Schröder promoted the assets of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region, ranging from its economic power and excellent access to ports, rails, roads, the region’s expertise in in the food industry. “We are looking forward to co-operate with the Galician food cluster and to offer our network to you as a platform,” said Schroeder.

The Hamburg Metropolitan Region offers perfect conditions for the food industry – both for local and international companies. With more than 40,000 staff, the industry is a major employer.


On foodactive

foodactive is the nutrition initiative of the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Target group of the industry network are companies in the food industry as well as academic institutions and actors along the value chain. In addition to the shareholders of the business developers of Süderelbe AG, also the rural districts of Stade, Harburg, Lüneburg, Uelzen, Lüchow-Dannenberg, and the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg supports the activities of nutrition initiative foodactive.
