Around 1,300 exhibitors from the hotel, restaurant, catering, baking and confectionery trade across 25 nations will be attending Internorga at Hamburg’s fairgrounds from March 17-21, 2017. The exhibitors will highlight diverse issues such as furniture, modern kitchen technology and an international food service forum for both hotel chains and owner-run businesses. Claudia Johannsen, manager of the division at Hamburg Messe und Congress GmbH, noted: “As the only international fair for gastronomy and the hotel trade in Germany, Internorga offers the hotelier a complete overview of the market, the latest developments and lots of inspiration.”
Trend towards ecological and economic sustainability
This year’s fair is set to highlight sustainability and authenticity. Guests, who wish to stay in hotels, are looking for holistic decorating concepts with an individual touch. Natural materials such as linen and silk, wood and natural stone have a calming effect and an inviting look. Innovative production methods in ecology and economy are also important with greater emphasis on production conditions this year.
Gastro start-up contest
Around 20 newcomers from Germany and abroad will also be presenting their latest products ranging from services to international food and drinks in the Newcomers’ Area. The final of the Gastronomy Start-up Contest will be held on March 17, 2017. The winner receives a cash prize of EUR 10,000 from ECE, Germany’s biggest operator of shopping centres, and advice from the Leaders Club – an association of leading gourmets. The celebrity TV chef, Tim Mälzer, is on this year’s jury. The professional audience at the fair selects the winner. Five finalists have already been chosen and a wildcard will go to a sixth finalist. Applicants have until February 28, 2017 to apply.
