New technologies and ships at Kreuzfahrtwelt Hamburg

Leading shipping companies, tour operators and agencies present new products and trends

The Kreuzfahrtwelt Hamburg gets underway at Hamburg fairgrounds from February 6-10, 2019. More than 915,000 passengers and 220 ship calls were registered at Hamburg’s three cruise terminals last year, according to Cruise Gate Hamburg GmbH. The Hanseatic city also hosts impressive cruise events such as the annual Port Anniversary Celebrations in early summer making it the ideal venue for a trade fair of this kind.

New ships to set sail

“The cruise industry aims to bring passengers from port to port in an even more environment-friendly way in future. And shipping companies’ investments in new ships and technologies also reflects this objective. Almost half of all beds on new ships will be on liquefied natural gas (LNG) powered ships,” said Helge Grammerstorf, National Director Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) Germany. Digital speech assistants aboard ships are among the latest innovations. Passengers can enjoy 360-degree info counters in the exhibition halls and sleep in almost true-to-scale cabins.

One ticket for six trade fairs

The Kreuzfahrtwelt Hamburg is part of the “oohh! – Die FreizeitWelten der Hamburg Messe”, which will be held in February. Five special fairs for diverse leisure activities will be held in the same building and include Reisen Hamburg, Fotohaven Hamburg, Rad Hamburg and Caravaning Hamburg and the cruise world Hamburg. More than 800 international exhibitors will be awaiting visitors. The tickets are also valid for Autotage Hamburg.
