Focus on modern India during Hamburg's 7th India Week

2017 programme - mix of cultural, economic, social and political themes

The 7th India Week Hamburg gets underway from November 6-12, 2017 and will feature some 80 events including exhibitions, plays, films, music and dance performances and food workshops. Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture, said: “Multiple co-operations between artists from India and Hamburg have led to many joint projects during India Week and bear creative witness to vibrant partnerships.”

Empowerment and digitalisation in India

Keynote speeches, discussions and seminars on economic and political issues such as India’s GTS tax, digitalisation and start-ups are on the agenda. Empowerment, reinvention, the results of the G20 summit and Indian-German bilateral realties will also be discussed. “India and Hamburg share priorities in renewable energies, promoting and developing qualifications, education, digitalisation, digital economies, sustainable development, emancipation of women and youths and in many other sectors,” said Madan Lal Raigar, India’s General Consulate in Hamburg,

Urban commitment

Olaf Scholz, Mayor of Hamburg and Mukta Dutta Tomar, India’s Ambassador to Germany, will open India Week on November 6, 2017 in City Hall. The events are being organised by the Senate Chancellery with the Ministry of Culture, the German-Indian Round Table, Chamber of Commerce Hamburg, Hamburg Invest, the Hamburg Liason Office Mumbai and the General Consulate of the Republic of India to boost bilateral relations and intercultural exchange.
