The research centre is a joint project run by the city of Hamburg, Airbus and Lufthansa Technik. It has received a total investment of EUR 100,000 and will provide 600 jobs on a 28,000 square metre area.
Interface between science, commerce and politics
The Center of Applied Aeronautical Research (ZAL) forms an interface between science, commerce and politics and the city of Hamburg with the aim of securing and extending the location as the world’s third largest in civil aviation. ZAL will work closely with the Aviation Cluster Hamburg Metropolitan Region to pool technological competencies in the Hanseatic city in a central establishment and to create synergy effects in the process.
