One of the biggest events in aviation, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), gets underway Tuesday in the Congress Center Hamburg (CCH). Around 1,000 leading experts are expected at the 138th IATA Slot Conference. The event comes on the heels of the World Passenger Symposium which Hamburg hosted last October. Frank Horch, Senator for Economic Affairs said: “The event is being held in Hamburg for the first time and results from successful joint efforts for Hamburg as an aviation location. We are pleased to welcome the many experts and to be able to show them what the airport and companies have created here in the city.”
Forum for awarding slots
The slot conference allows airlines and airports to obtain the landing and take-off slots that will give them the best schedule to offer their customers. The flight schedule for the winter 2016/2017 will be discussed and drawn up during the three-day (June 21-23, 2016) conference in Hamburg.
Making decision-makers aware of Hamburg
Thorsten Kausch, Managing Director of Hamburg Convention Bureau GmbH and Hamburg Marketing GmbH, said: “A sustainable added valued will only emerge, if we raise awareness of Hamburg through exchange at such an event and by implanting a positive image of our city in the minds of global players.”
