A strong and growing Hanseatic delegation is gearing up to present Hamburg itself as an attractive business location at the upcoming South by Southwest Festival underway in Austin, Texas from March 8-17, 2019. Every year, SXSW attracts around 100,000 trade visitors from the film, music and digital industries. The event gives young and upcoming start-ups in the Hamburg delegation a platform to present their companies and plenty of networking opportunities. Five Hamburg-based companies German Wahnsinn, DevilDuckRecords, Spiegelsaal, Vrham! and Zum Heimathafen are being backed by the Hamburg Kreativgesellschaft and the Ministry of Culture and Media to perform well in the Lone Star state. The Interessengemeinschaft Hamburger Musikwirtschaft (IHM), in co-operation with the Reeperbahn Festival, Hamburg Marketing and Hamburg Invest is responsible for Hamburg’s presentation at SXSW. This includes corporate and product presentations, networking events, matchmaking sessions, panels and music showcases. Hamburg will also be part of the German Haus, the hotspot of the German community programme at SXSW.
