Today, the new top level domain .hamburg will be officially launched. The kick-off ceremony will be an official ceremony at city hall hosted by Hamburg’s First Mayor Olaf Scholz. Germany’s two largest cities, i.e. Hamburg and Berlin, will then be online with a top level domain.

“We have supported the project and are pleased that it will be now filled with life,” commented Hamburg’s First Mayor Olaf Scholz on the project. “The new top-level domain will offer many new opportunities for citizens and businesses in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region of Hamburg, and allow to present themselves in the digital world with a regional focus while identifying with their home base, Hamburg.” For official launch at city hall this Wednesday, guests from business, media and politics are being expected.
Hallmark projects already online
As co-operation partners of the city top level domain .hamburg, Budnikowsky and the saving institute Hamburger Sparkasse bereits have already secured the addresses” www.perle.hamburg”: http://www.perle.hamburg and www.gut-fuer.hamburg online, with some pages already live. In addition, also Hamburg’s official bilingual news platform by Hamburg Marketing GmbH, i.e. Hamburg News, acquired the address and can now be accessed at www.hamburg-news.hamburg.
Registration starts today
As of today, all companies, all businesses, individuals, organisations, and associations, public authority and public institutions from Hamburg and the Metropolitan Region will be able to register with the city top level domain .hamburg and choose www.meinefirma.hamburg or www.meinname.hamburg as new URL.e The new gTLD (generic Top Level Domain) for the Hanseatic city of Hamburg allow some 300,000 companies to associate oneself with one of the world’s leading cities for business. With dot Hamburg, they will be able stand out from the crowd and increase their visibility online for local searches.
