Millions for Founders

The University of Lüneburg will be funded by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy with one million euro until 2018

The funds are provided by the Federal Ministry of Economy and Energy in the frame of the Exist programme will be and used to develop the subject of entrepreneurship at the university and in the region.

Better Entrepreneurial Climate at Universities

The programme aims at improving the entrepreneurial climate at universities and increasing the number of knowledge-based start-ups. Already in the past three years, the university had been able to benefit from an Exist programme funding of1.3 million euro. According to a study by the Donors’ Association for German Science, Leuphana is one of the most founder-friendly universities in Germany.

Spin-Offs To Promoted Even More

Leuphana President Sascha Spoun: “We are pleased with the support for the upcoming activities – but also on the recognition of achievements, which expresses itself in the continuation of the funding.” Dr. Mark Euler, project manager of the Entrepreneurship Hub at Leuphana Professional School, explains the planned use of funds: “in the first phase, it was mainly a matter of creating sensibility for the subject of entrepreneurship as a key competence and to anchor it in the university. Now, we want to exploit the potentials of the university even more and promote more spin-offs.”

University of Lüneburg Enjoys Excellent Reputation in Entrepreneurship

The University of Lüneburg enjoys an excellent reputation on a national level in regard to entrepreneurship. A particular strength of the University is the structural basis on the subject of entrepreneurship: three chairs are concerned with establishing questions, four more chairs and numerous support and counseling services complete the offers in this field. Leuphana bundles all activities in entrepreneurship across faculties in a central hub, where they a being coordinated and further developed.
