The Handelsverband Deutschland has honoured the DIY company Horst as “Store of the Year 2019” in the category “Home/Living”. Based in Hamburg Bahrenfeld, Horst won over the jury with its emotional DIY store theme, sustainable design and appeal to customers’ creativity. Plans are now being laid to expand the company both off and online.
Creativity and experience
“Do-it-yourself becomes desirable: the more complex, digital and virtual our world becomes, the more precious are what we create with our own hands. After many, positive customer reactions in recent months, we are delighted that an expert has also found our idea worthy of a prize,” said Philipp Möller, Managing Director of the Horst Retail Concepts GmbH. Horst offers workshops as well as furniture and DIY ideas. “The first store is part of a platform system that will be expanded gradually – both locally and virtually,” Möller added. The store’s concept is suitable to both conurbations and mid-sized cities. The platform will soon be virtually expanded to attract younger target groups.
Another Hamburg-based winner
REWE’s Surdanovic store in Hamburg-Ottensen won the “Store of the Year 2019” award in the “Food” category. Customers there can enjoy food shopping in a listed, art nouveau hall featuring a lounge area with a grand piano for live music.
