The world’s largest tourism trade fair, the ITB Berlin, opened its doors Wednesday (March 6-10, 2019) and is showcasing Hamburg under the theme “Rough and beautiful, traditional and modern. Around 73 companies have joined forces with “Hamburg Tourismus GmbH to highlight Hamburg’s high standard of living. On Thursday, Hamburg Airport will be inviting the airline industry to a traditional “Klönschnack” or chat at the stand.
Michael Otremba, Managing Director of Hamburg Tourismus GmbH, said: “Hamburg’s attendance with more than 70 partners once again represents the city’s special appeal. This year we are deliberately focusing on the high quality of life in Hamburg. Our guests will come into contact with water. Topics such as sustainability, cycling and lesser-known parts of the city will become visible as well.”
Some 24 Hamburg-based hotels and the Hotelfachschule Hamburg have deployed 19 staff and 14 chefs to Berlin to cater to guests at the stand at which 6,000 guests are expected. The 650-square metre stand on two levels has a 30-square metre LED screen on which stories about the city and its partners are being told. The Elbphilharmonie, Thalia Theater, Aida Cruises and the VR harbour experience Discovery Dock by DuMont Media and many other firms and institutions are represented the stand.
