The Hamburg Metropolitan Region is launching the “Logbuch International on Tour” event series as part of the “Welcome to Metropolregion Hamburg” project. Tourism providers can prepare for international guests in 20 events held by 20 districts and urban tourist organisations and seven Chambers of Commerce. The Hamburg Metropolitan Region and partners are providing funds of EUR 850,000. Lübeck und Travemünde Marketing GmbH is managing the project.
Hamburg – international tourist magnet
The “Welcome to Metropolregion Hamburg” will help tourism providers prepare for tourists from different countries and their customs. From February 2018, regional tourist organisations will offer free events in co-operation with the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. Service providers can focus on issues such as “Dealing with International Guests” and “International Marketing” and attend English-language survival courses to learn everyday, conversational English. Fluency in English is not the objective.
Dealing with international guests
The Hamburg Metropolitan Region is offering four other seminars entitled “The International Guest” in co-operation with the ServiceQualität Deutschland initiative. The seminar forms the base of the “Training as a Quality Coach.“ Participants gain practical knowledge about international guests. Verena von der Hagen, Project Manager, said: “The event series is a successful supplement to the free Logbuch International online platform. The tourism providers gain lots of valuable and helpful information about international guests and dealing with them becomes child’s play. They also have an opportunity to talk to each other and to learn how their colleagues prepare for and adapt to international guests.”
