Hamburg Marketing’s photo of the “Elbphilharmonie in Fog” has won the PR Image Award 2019 and outshone around 600 applicants, a press release said Friday (October 25, 2019). The winning motif in the category “PR Image of the Year Germany” shows the landmark rising out of dense fog at dawn.
The award is presented by Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa’s subsidiary news aktuell for outstanding photography by companies, organizations and agencies. “We voted on many, very creative, excellent photos during the 14th year of the PR Image Award. The winning pictures are very varied in their motifs, but they all have one thing in common: they tell a story, stimulate our imagination and open our eyes to a previously unknown world. We learn by looking at them or our thoughts dwell on them,” said Edith Stier-Thompson, Managing Director of news aktuell.
Tradition and modernity
Michael Otremba, Managing Director of Hamburg Marketing GmbH, remarked: “The award, which was brought about by a large public vote, again shows the strong effect of the Elbphilharmonie as a motif and its radiance as a landmark for Hamburg and all of Germany. Its unique architecture combines tradition and modernity. It is a place of exchange and encounter. It is a testimony to the city’s versatility, contrasts and courage. The Elbphilharmonie encourages people to shed it in a new light again and again. It has changed views of Hamburg.”
Drone recording by Konstantin Beck
Jens Gotthardt, Project Manager Brand Hamburg at Hamburg Marketing, accepted the award on Thursday (October 24, 2019) at a ceremony in the Resonanzraum St. Pauli. “We are thrilled with the honour! We present the Elbphilharmonie on Hamburg’s media server as a concert hall for everyone, especially in its urban context – at the passage between city and harbour. This unusual motif approaches Hamburg’s new traffic mark in a different way: The “Elbphilharmonie in Fog” literally floats in the clouds. This drone shot is due to a very special, unique moment captured ideally by the photographer, Konstantin Beck.” Around 250 invited guests had attended the award ceremony. This year’s Swiss entry won the award for a photo entitled “A perfect day!” by Schnyder Werbung while Austria’s best PR image showed “Water in Motion” and had been entered by Kärnten Werbung Marketing und Innovationsmanagement.
