Eight brand new destinations have been added to Hamburg Airport’s summer 2018 schedule including flights to Ljubljana, Jersey and Bilbao. Around 60 airlines are promoting sunny destinations and European cities this summer with flights to 130 different places on offer.
More new destinations
Flights to Trieste, northern Italy, will be on offer from May 13, 2018. The city is an ideal starting point for cruise ship passengers from northern Germany. Other destinations include Kayseri in Turkey’s Cappadocia region and the Norwegian port of Bergen. More flights to existing destinations such as Munich, Zurich, Oslo and Edinburgh are on offer also. Michael Eggenschwiler, CEO of Hamburg Airport, said: “Together with the airlines, we can offer our passengers an attractive network of routes, mainly to holiday destinations and cities throughout Europe in the summer 2018 schedule.”
Compensating for capacities
Gaps in the market have emerged now that Air Berlin and Niki have ceased operations. Easyjet will continue to fly to nine destinations from Hamburg despite the closure of it’s basis in late March. Commenting on closing these gaps, Eggenschweiler said: “We are in talks with different airlines to seal these gaps. We are certain that the capacities will have been compensated for by late 2018.”
