Hamburg Tourismus (HHT) and next media accelerator are hosting a hackathon from March 30-April 1, 2017 to come up with ideas for forward-looking digital projects, a press release said Tuesday (March 14). Around 70 programmers, designers, entrepreneurs, marketing experts, engineers and many others will spend three days working on ideas for a digital experience of Hamburg using pictures of tourist attractions, audio guides for HHT App, ships’ positions as well as trailers from the public transport (HVV) interface and 360 degree videos produced by Hamburg Marketing Holding. The emphasis will be on mobile, data-driven solutions and user-orientated storytelling.
Marketing Hamburg digitally
Felix Behnke, Head of the App and eCommerce Project at HHT, said: “We wish to rely consciously on fresh, external know-how and new impulses to market (Hamburg) digitally as a destination.” More and more social media users are keen to create individual exciting stories during their stay in Hamburg. Participants in the hackathon can link up with other creative minds in betahaus. Prizes will be presented for the best pitch, the most innovative idea and the best implementation. After the hackathon, the best ideas can be fine-tuned and implemented with both Hamburg Tourism and next media accelerator.
Pitching ideas and team building
Participants can present their ideas for a digital experience of Hamburg at the start of the event. Those interested do not have to have an idea to take part in the hackathon. After the pitches, each participant can choose a project to work on and teams will be formed. Participation is free.
