Lufthansa Innovation Hub, the online travel agency Expedia Group, Google and the transport networking company Uber are looking for digital and technical solutions to making travel and mobility more sustainable. Whether digital solutions for a reduced ecological footprint, sustainable decisions in the reservation process or innovative transport technologies: Early-stage start-ups, students and young professionals can submit their ideas online until October 30, 2019. Lufthansa Innovation Hub is the digital unit of the Lufthansa Group.
Four categories for sustainable ideas
“Digital innovation plays a key role in shaping a more sustainable Future for Travel and Mobility – a topic that has by no means been researched in all its aspects,” said Gleb Tritus, Managing Director of Lufthansa Innovation Hub and one of the jurors for the Changemaker Challenge.
Applications can be entered in four separate categories: “Upgrade to Sustainability” is looking for ideas for a sustainable planning process, and ideas for sustainable mobility in the city are being sought for “Disrupt Urban Mobility”. By way of contrast, the prize category “The Good Traveller” is devoted to digital solutions contributing to a reduced environmental footprint while at the destination. The fourth category, “Beyond Booking”, includes innovations intended to promote sustainable behaviour throughout the trip.
Final pitch at Lufthansa company headquarters
Finalists in the Changemaker Challenge will have an opportunity to pitch their ideas to a jury of experts at Lufthansa’s headquarters in Frankfurt on December 4, 2019. The event is part of the Innovation Forum, the Lufthansa Group’s most important global event for innovation. Prizes worth EUR 30,000 will be presented to the winners, who will be announced on November 15, 2019.
