Seven firms get grants for SXSW

Hamburg Kreativgesellschaft and Ministry of Culture and Media funding trip to Texas

Seven local companies in video and music, software and design sectors have been selected for grants from the Ministry of Culture and Media to attend the upcoming South by Southwest (SXSW) creative festival in Austin, Texas from March 9-18, 2018.

Grants for travel and accommodation expense

An expert jury has earmarked 6ft Rabbit, DevilDuck Records, New Audio Technology (NAT), Soundgarden, Squarelovin, Ronnenberger Creative Technology and Indeed Innovation for grants of up to EUR 1,500 towards travel and accommodation expenses. The grants were available to companies in the creative industries with a well-founded interest in taking part in SXSW 2018.

Hamburg to be presented as attractive economic centre

Every year in March, the SXSW attracts around 10,000 expert visitors from the fashion, media, movie, music and art scenes. Hamburg is being presented as attractive and important economic centre. Events in the German Haus, at Hamburg’s stand and exclusive parties will focus entirely on digital issues. Financed by the Free and Hanse City of Hamburg and Hamburg Marketing GmbH, all kinds of company and product presentations, networking events, matchmaking sessions, panel discussions and music showcases are on the agenda in Texas. The Reeperbahn Festival and the Hamburg Music Business Association (IHM) are organising Hamburg’s presentation.


6ft Rabbit
6ft Rabbit specialises in the design, production and post-production of video content for digital channels. The firm design and shoots moving images and has vast experience in online advertising. 6ft Rabbit has filmed several videos for international markets since the company was founded in 2012.

DevilDuck Records
Founded in 2004, the Hamburg-based independent label, DevilDuck Records, works with bands in the Untied States, Canada, Scandinavia and Germany. The label is responsible for sales. DevilDuck Records also manages and books bands and also has it’s own blog called “About Songs”.

New Audio Technology (NAT)
New Audio Technology (NAT) develops and distributes high-performance audio products for industrial, professional and end user applications. Founded by Tom Ammermann in 2012, the products give users enjoyable 3D experiences when creating, editing and monitoring audio content for film, music and game applications with any multi-channel speaker set-up e.g. Surround, 3D as well as with standard headphones.
NAT prioritises user-friendliness.

Since 1990, Soundgarden Tonstudio has offered custom-tailored audio solutions to clients such as Tocotronic, Die Sterne, Franz Ferdinand and Gossip using a tried and trusted system of high-end digital and analogue gear in a unique acoustical environment. Based in the Clouds Hill Recordings complex in Hamburg-Rothenburgsort, the company has specialised in audio mastering since it downsized in 2008.

Founded in 2015, the squarelovin start-up provides user-generated content-management tools and gathers all mentions of a client’s brand in one place for use in e-commerce. The tools help track all the relevant content, obtain media usage rights and manage the publication of the content.

Ronnenberg Creative Technology
Ronnenberg Creative Technology explores past, recent and future technologies through design and develops new perspectives on human-computer interaction. Ronnenberg works with a high skill-set on UI/UX projects. Many are acclaimed in both existing platforms such as iOS and Android and in a field where information technology fuses with robots, drones and smart spaces.

Indeed Innovation GmbH helps companies with targeted technical and social innovations as part of social change. Based on the principle of human centricity, the 35-strong team views its work as a hub for design decisions.
