Nominations sought for Offshore Innovation Award

New award to honour outstanding products in offshore wind energy.

DNV GL, a merger of Det Norske Veritas (Norway) and Germanischer Lloyd (Germany), and the Hamburg Renewable Energy Cluster are accepting entries for their first Offshore Wind Innovation Award. The winner will be determined in a public electronic vote live during the Hamburg Offshore Wind Conference (HOW) on April 3, 2019. Prizewinners receive EUR 2,000 in cash. Applications can be submitted until March 15, 2019.

Usefulness and market success

The Offshore Innovation Award honours outstanding products in offshore wind energy. The award honours mostly innovative changes and/or improvements to standard products that have the potential to affect significant cost reductions in offshore wind projects. Possible areas of application are the development of wind turbines and improvements in installation and maintenance.

Technical innovations

“Offshore wind energy plays a key role in the German and global transformation of energy systems; at the same time, innovations drive technology forward. The industry is now jointly driving these factors forward with the first Offshore Wind Innovation Award at HOW 2019. We look forward to learning more about the participants’ ideas,” said Jan Ripens, Managing Director of the Hamburg Renewable Energy Cluster.
