DNV GL and the Hamburg Renewable Energy Cluster are hosting the 16th Hamburg Offshore Wind Conference at the Empire Riverside Hotel on April 2 and 3, 2019 under the motto “From if to how – Ready to Realise an Ambitious Renewables Road Map”. The conference brings decision-makers in the German and international offshore wind industry together to discuss new trends and innovations.
Sensor technology gaining importance
“Demands on ‘balancing the energy’ of offshore wind turbines is increasing with the energy transition and the possibility of providing ever larger offshore turbines to cover a large part of the energy demand in Germany,” said Dr. Florian von der Hagen, Senior Vice President Engineering Solutions at Lufthansa Industry Solutions, and a keynote speaker at the conference. “Wind turbines are being equipped with more and more sensors to monitor their condition. It is not only important to collect data, but also to be aware that large amounts of data can be processed.”
Trends and innovations
Jörg Philp, Senvion S.A. will present new concepts on floating wind. Sven Utermöhlen, E.ON Climate & Renewables, and Ruud de Bruijne, Netherlands Enterprise Agency, will discuss the pros and cons of tendering systems. A panel discussion will focus on “Offshore wind in Germany – from distributor to laggard”. New business ideas will also feature at this year’s conference. The “Offshore Innovation Award” will be presented to one of the five best innovations for the offshore industry.
