The know-how of the European wind energy capital of Hamburg is also in demand in the United States. Take, for example, New Bedford, which has been developing an intense economic partnership with Cuxhaven since 2011. There, Siemens and other companies from the Hamburg Metropolitan Region are involved in the set up of the Cape Wind offshore wind farm.Located 80 km south of Boston, Siemens will be erecting 130 wind turbines for the power plant in the Atlantic, while the engineers of IMS have been entrusted to link the offshore wind farm to the grid. IMS has already been involved with many North Sea wind farms. In Oregon, Portland General Electric ordered 116 SWT-2.3-108 from Siemens for the Tucannon River wind farm, delivering 267 MW by 2015. In Michigan, Nordex will be supplying 19 wind turbines to Exelon Wind, LLC for the next phase of the Beebe Community Wind Project.
