Three prizes for cruise shipping in Hamburg

Two Hapag Lloyd cruisers in Top 10 of Traveller's World Awards. Frank Horch, Senator for Economics, is cruise ship personality of 2016.

The MS EUROPA 2, a five-star ship in the fleet of Hapag Lloyd Cruises, has won the Traveller’s World Awards 2016 as best cruise ship marking its second distinction by travel magazine readers. The sister ship, MS EUROPA, also made it onto the global Top 10 cruise ships. Readers of “Traveller’s World” magazine voted for their favourites in ten categories including cruise ships as well as hotels, restaurants, spas, airlines, airports, cities, islands and worldwide destinations.

Capacity for 500 passengers

The winning ship, MS EUROPA 2, has 251 suites spread over seven passenger decks and has total capacity for 500 passengers. The MS EUROPA 2 will arrive in the port of Hamburg on June 28, 2016, according to Hamburg Cruise Centers. Hapag-Lloyd Cruises is fully-owned by TUI AG based in Hamburg. The fleet is made up of four ships.

Meanwhile, Frank Horch, Senator for Economics, has been voted “Hamburg’s Cruise Ship Personality 2016” at the world’s leading travel show, ITB in Berlin. A 14-member jury voted for the senator saying he had set “milestones for the branch” as he overseen the establishment of Hamburg’s third cruise ship terminal and a landside power plant.
