The Hanseatic city of Wismar is this year’s host of the second regional conference logistics “METROLOG 2014”. Held on 13 November 2014, the conference is a joint event of two logistics initiatives of Hamburg and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, which have been closely co-operating for years. An important project connecting the two initiatives is the fixed Fehmarn Belt crossing, which will open up bright perspectives not only for logistics companies in the region, but for the entire economy.
Hot Topic: The Future Fehmarn Belt Crossing
How will the fixed link change supply chains. Which are the opportunities and challenges related to the project? How will the tunnel change the logistics of the Wismar region and its port? Which are the innovative projects creative minds are currently working on in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region? These questions will be discussed by political and business leaders at “METROLOG 2014”.
The idea of hosting an joint logistics conference was born in late 2012 by the land councils and mayors to strengthen the networking of business, politics and administration in the Hamburg Metropolitan Region. After the successful premiere in Stade in 2013, it’s now Wismar’s turn to host METROLOG. Next to the Free and Hanseatic city of Hamburg, the Hamburg Metropolitan Region includes 17 districts and counties and two county-level cities in Schleswig-Holstein, Lower Saxony, and Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania with a population of 5.3 million people.
