Hapag-Lloyd has come first in the “Best Logistics Brand” vote in the shipping companies category and fought off stiff competition from 15 rivals. The win resulted from a poll of readers by the “Logistik Heute” trade magazine and experts in the German Logistics Association (BVL), a press release said Thursday. BVL and “Logistik Heute” presented the awards in a total of 11 categories at a gala event in Berlin on Wednesday.
Hamburg Süd und Maersk Line placed second and third respectively. Rolf Habben Jansen, CEO of Hapag-Lloyd AG, said: “In our industry, the Hapag-Lloyd brand numbers among the best-known in the world. Since Hapag was founded in Hamburg in 1847, the brand has stood for reliability, professionalism, quality and know-how.”
Logistics – Germany’s third largest economic sector
The candidates in this year’s vote included over 170 brands drawn from those with the highest turnover in Germany. The brands were nominated by an independent committee led by Christian Kille, Professor of Logistics at the University of Applied Sciences Würzburg-Schweinfurt. Commenting on the vote, Thilo Jörgl, Editor-in-Chief of “Logistik Heute” said: “The selection provides good insight into the brand environment of logistics, which has come to be the third-largest business sector in Germany,”
