Hanse Globe to be presented in February

Logistik-Initiative Hamburg to present sustainability prize - applications being accepted

The Logistik-Initiative Hamburg is to present the 11th Hanse Globe sustainability award on February 5, 2018 in City Hall, a press release said Thursday (October 5, 2017). The award honours national and international sustainability achievements in logistics. Submissions for the prize are being accepted until December 1, 2017. Olaf Scholz, Mayor of Hamburg, will host the award ceremony during which Dr. Dieter Zetsche, CEO of Daimler AG, wil give a keynote speech.

Social responsibility and sustainable management

Past winners such as UPS in 2016 were distinguished for their commitment to cost efficiency in combination with environmental compatibility and social responsibility. UPS won over the jury with a logistics concept that reduces pollution when making deliveries across cities. Rainer Kiehl, UPS City Logistics Manager, said: “The Hanse Globe confirmed to us that UPS City Logistics project is a sustainable and viable concept for the future. We will roll out pollution free deliveries per cargo bikes, on pedelecs and hand trucks beyond Germany and Europe.”
