Hamburg's Eurogate operating direct rail link to Singen

Singen proving gateway to Lake Constance, Austria's Vorarlberg and eastern Switzerland

The Hamburg-based EUROGATE Intermodal (EGIM) has launched a new, direct rail link between the Port of Hamburg and the Singen Terminal in Baden-Württemberg from January 15, 2019. The international service provider for intermodal container transport via road and rail is now offering fast, reliable transport between Hamburg and the Lake Constance region as well as Austria and eastern Switzerland.

Link offers alternative to busy terminals

The new EGIM Singen-Hamburg service will offer two round trips per week with a total capacity of 88 TEU per run and direction. The use of fixed rolling stock gives EGIM and its clients greater flexibility and facilitates optimised load factors and transport times. Apart from the pure rail service between Hamburg and Singen, EGIM is also offering customers transport by truck to cover the first and last miles of the transit route from a terminal to a shipment’s final destination.

New offer for combined and maritime transport

Niels Riedel, Head of Sales at EGIM, commented: “With the launch of our newest direct connection to Singen, our goal is to provide a better balance of transport service options in the immediate and neighbouring regions. This will give our customers an efficient and attractive alternative to existing services. The container terminal TSG Singen offers an ideal opportunity to further expand our maritime logistics business.”
