The crisis surrounding the coronavirus is threatening the existence of a rising number of companies in Hamburg. Many entrepreneurs face financial precarity, pandemic planning, the employer’s duty of care as well as claims for compensation foreseen by the Infection Protection Act. Hamburg’s Senate is following the course of the pandemic closely and its impact on the regional economy. It is holding intense talks with associations, chambers, funding agencies and the other federal states as well as the German government. The Ministry of Economics, Transport and Innovation and the Chamber of Commerce are offering extensive information about support services and rapid assistance on their webpages.
Meanwhile, more and more initiatives and business ideas to counteract the spread of the virus are emerging. The Hamburg start-up Frischepost is taking part in the #flattenthecurve campaign. The company delivers fresh products and hygiene articles to the front door.
