The Port of Hamburg, trade and high-tech are already pillars of innovation in Hamburg. Now the city hopes to strengthen them by adding Science City Bahrenfeld to the mix. Plans for the 125-hectare site in Bahrenfeld with new scientific institutes, facilities and 2,500 apartments were unveiled Tuesday in City Hall. The site will bring together residents, students, scientists and guest researchers from Germany and abroad to work, do research, study and live there. Our “New Work” series focuses on modern working environments. Our latest report takes an inside look at Facebook’s Germany headquarters, which is responsible for the entire German-speaking region. The multinational company has been in Hamburg since 2010.
