the increasing digitalization in the healthcare industry, medicine and medical technology is sending the number of complex data sets soaring. These hold huge potential for self-learning AI technologies. A North German research association including Hamburg is seeking answers to how artificial intelligence can improve health technology. Now, the German Ministry for Economics and Energy is putting around EUR 10 million towards the “AI Space for Intelligent Health Systems” (KI-SIGS) over the next three years. Research into artificial intelligence has a long tradition in in Hamburg. More than 30 years ago, one of the first laboratories for artificial intelligence (LKI) in Germany was founded at the University of Hamburg.
