In 2018, wind turbines in Germany produced more electricity than ever before, according to the German Wind Energy Association. But as soon as the power grid is overloaded, it has to be switched off every now and then. To use the available energy, Wind to Gas Energy GmbH & Co. KG in Brunsbüttel has built an electrolysis plant in which hydrogen is produced from excess wind energy. A hydrogen filling station for cars and thus new business fields have also been created on site. The company brokers hydrogen cars and advises customers on all aspects of innovative mobility making for are two important parts of its business model.
