Almost every fifth person in Germany has or has previously owned shares or crypto currencies, according to a survey by the non-profit Blockchain Research Lab (BRL) in Hamburg. Blockchain technology has far greater social relevance than previously assumed. Lennart Ante, research associate at the University of Hamburg and co-founder of BRL, believes blockchain will develop into basic technology. In an interview with Hamburg News, he talks about the risks and opportunities and of this innovative technology. Blockchain is also set to top the agenda of this year’s Blockchance Conference, which will bring key players in the sector to Hamburg for the “Blockchain Summer” in August.
