Across the globe, start-ups are seen as catalysts of innovation. Large companies like Philips are increasingly using founders’ fresh ideas. Some 300 international start-ups had applied for the Philips Health Accelerator in Hamburg. The choice eventually fell on six promising start-ups. Philips’ experts, leading hospitals and health professionals in the Health Innovation Port (HIP) in Hamburg-Fuhlsbüttel helped fledgling companies such as the British start-up Oxford Heartbeat and the Hamburg-based northh medical further develop their business ideas there.
