Aviation faces diverse new challenges in future. Digitalisation is opening up new ways of creating more efficient aircraft as early as the design phase and contributing to aviation overall. The German Aerospace Center (DLR) recently opened the new Institute of Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul and the Institute of System Architectures in Aeronautics in Hamburg. Around 160 scientists will work there on reducing emissions and using the opportunities of digitalisation to achieve greater efficiency and form a basis for building new aircraft models. Hamburg News visited the aviation centre of the future.
