Yoints Wins App Contest

The developers of “Yoints” are the winners of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce’s app contest and took home a prize money of 10,000 euro for their innovative ibeacon app. The smartphone application can, for instance, be used at Hamburg Airport, where passengers waiting for their flight will be offered special deals from airport shops on their smartphones. When following the invitation to shop, travellers will be rewarded with bonus points for the time they spent in the shops. These points can then be exchanged for new goods, i.e clothes, watches, and even perfumes, or be donated to charit, such as the Süderstraße shelter or the clean water initiative Viva con Agua.

The second prize, and thus 7,500 euro in cash, was secured by 6Ears UG ended up with “AudioguideMe”, a Hamburg city map with local audio information. Ranked third in the contest and honoured with 5,000 euro was the Tablet Kings GmbH with their “Eppendorfer Baum App”. The local retail convinced the nine members of the jury by its clean-cut design and easy navigation.

Clever Ideas Made In Hamburg

Also recognised in the contest were new app ideas. In this the entry “Lifetime” by connected GmbH, “IxA” by Innomotion GbR, and “Was passiert hier (What happens here)?” by Patrick Felsch were named winners. In total, 110 companies participated in the contest. Hamburg Marketing GmbH supported the contest organised by the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce.

Special Prize

The application submitted by the district school of Horn on “Historic Hamburg”, a digitally refurbished city map from the 19th century that revealed historic insights on individual building plots of the district” was honoured with a special prize and 500 euro for the exemplary display of educational content. Last but not least, the ASB Landesverband Hamburg e.V. was granted the audience award for “shocked Hamburg!” F

The app contest the one of the ten flagship projects of the Hamburg Chamber of Commerce’s strategy “Hamburg 2030”, which has set itself the goal of “making Hamburg the stronghold of mobile applications”.
