UniPitch 2017 now accepting applications

Qualifying round for start-up event at Hamburg's university and colleges

Universities, colleges and research institutes across Hamburg are set to host UniPitch 2017 on November 16 in Forum Finkenau at the University of Applies Sciences (HAW). The contest gives start-ups an opportunity to present their business ideas and is open to students, academics and graduates, who completed their study courses no more than five years ago.

Experienced founders set examples

The programme consists of “UniPitch Challenge, 1:1- Coachings for Participants”, workshops and a prototype fair. Unlike previous events, a qualifying event for the UniPitch will be held in the Startup Dock at the Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH). Participants have until October 15, 2017 to send a video highlighting their business ideas. Five out of the 12 best entries will qualify for the final of UniPitch.

This year’s event includes a new session called “Pitching by Example” in addition to workshops on personal branding and ways of winning over investors. Outstanding products will be chosen during the simultaneous prototype fair.

Ways of taking part in UniPitch

This year’s judges includes Ulrich Britting, Managing Director of Best Audit, Slaven Marinovic, co-founder of Workworldwide, Mark Miller, Managing Director of CatCap, Sanja Stankovic, co-founder of Hamburg Startups and Lina Wüller, co-founder of Ovy. Dr. Jens Kube, owner of Agentur für Wissenschaftskommunikation, Thomas Promny, Managing Director of Velvet Ventures, and representatives of the network for founders at Hamburg’s colleges and universities will preselect the contestants.

Those interested can apply for one of five places or order a free ticket to watch the events. The winners of the UniPitch receive a cash prize of EUR 500, exclusive expert advice as well as non-cash prizes from sponsors. Select food start-ups such as Caté and Viva Con Agua will provide catering services at the event.
