Travel subsidy to SXSW for speakers from Hamburg

Panel ideas for SXSW's conference programme open to Hamburg residents via PanelPicker

Using the PanelPicker procedure, South by Southwest will select panels of interest, presentations, mentoring sessions and workshops for the official conference programme in 2019. Anyone working on innovative themes in the interactive/digital economy, music or film and who wishes to discuss their work in Austin can enter their ideas when the PanelPicker application phase starts on June 25 through July 20. Hamburg is supporting the winners with a “Panel Rodeo” travel subsidy worth up to EUR 1,000 EUR.

Application criteria

Themes most likely to succeed are those of general interest (so not simple product presentations or sales pitches), which will be presented internationally (internationally mixed speakers or internationally mixed companies) and ideally promise learning curves for the audience (e.g. “How to.”).

Applicants can optionally be individual speakers or part of a panel. SXSW subdivides its conference into various “Conference Tracks”. This summary gives an overview of the 2018 “Conference Tracks”: The 2019 tracks will emerge from the panel submissions. The decision will be taken from the intersection of three polls: the community votes online, and the SXSW Advisory Board and the SXSW staff also have their own votes. The conditions for a travel subsidy include registered commercial office or domicile in Hamburg or the greater metropolitan region.
