More funds for intercultural projects in 2018

EUR 77,650 for 15 intercultural art projects from Ministry of Culture and Media

Some 15 intercultural projects are to receive EUR 77,650 in funds from the Ministry of Culture and Media in 2018, according to a press release on March 20, 2018. Additional funds from culture and tourism taxes will go towards the KRASS Junior, eigenarten and altonale20 festival, and the German-Turkish “1. Theaterbrückenfestivals“ by the MUT! theatre. The ministry is promoting artists from different cultural backgrounds to highlight the wealth of cultural diversity and intercultural exchange in Hamburg.

Promoting diversity

Dr. Carsten Brosda, Senator for Culture and Media, said: “Giving artists an opportunity to interact artistically with society is highly-topical and is of great social importance and urgency. The intercultural projects show the diversity of our society and build bridges between cultures. Coexistence and artistic production in different cultures is and remains an exciting field which the Ministry of Culture and Media is delighted to support by funding projects.”

Many young artists

Applications for funding have been received from music, directing, acting, dance and various festivals. Several, top quality projects by new associations and young artists focus on sharing and participating in diverse urban societies.
